FINHUMF Co-Sponsors a New XLP Youth Club Bus in London
Last year, FINHUMF was proud to assist in funding a new bus in our long-time charity partner XLP's small fleet of mobile youth centres.
Recent changes in laws about emissions from buses like these are a necessary step forward for London's streets, but smaller charities need donations like these to afford essential repairs, upgrades and replacements to keep their cause on the streets that need them.
These buses are fitted with custom interiors offering snacks, games and a safe space to hang out. They provide a welcoming space for young people to meet friends, take part in XLP's programmes with, and connect youth workers who genuinely care about their lives and well-being. This creates a safe, fun and constructive community environment for them.
The power of these mobile youth centres lies in their flexibility, allowing them to reach communities across London. They overcome one of the main challenges faced by outreach programmes operating from a fixed address: not every young person can easily access such a location. Barriers like transport difficulties, gang territories and other challenges can keep them away from support.
Currently XLP operates three buses that visit 23 different communities each week. Across the charity, their 45 youth workers each engage personally with about 20-30 young people, make a real impact. We look forward to seeing XLP continue to grow and expand its reach.
